Vallots’ History

When I founded Vallot Auctioneers (now just Vallots) twenty years ago, I was overwhelmed both by our early success and the compliments I received from many art world figures to whom I looked up - not just for my auction results, but for my research, identification and cataloging of art.

Recently I learned that one of Vallots early printed catalogs, from the days when we used actual paper for our catalogs, is now in the Smithsonian .

A lot has changed in the art and auction worlds since then, but still every day there are new artworks consigned that pose interesting questions or require some detective work. And in the process, I feel lucky to still learn something new everyday! Michael Dym, Auctioneer
